The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the warmth. It was unlike anything I experienced before…the kind that came from being completely wrapped up in someone else’s body.

My lips curved into a grin as I realized that Wesley had kept me close even while he slept. Somehow, it felt even more intimate than everything we’d done yesterday.

I was tucked against his chest, his arms locked tight around me like he had no intention of ever letting go. One of his hands was splayed over my hip, fingers brushing the hem of the oversized T-shirt I’d slipped on before crawling into his bed. The other was under my head, cradling me close, as though he needed to know exactly where I was even in sleep.

I should’ve felt overwhelmed since the past twenty-four hours had been a whirlwind of emotions, high and low. Wesley’s fierce protectiveness and how he looked and touched me as though I was already his had taken my mind off the threatening note.

A soft breath escaped me, and I shifted just slightly, enough to feel the press of his chest against my back and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. That was when I realized he wasn’t asleep.

Wesley’s hand slid from my hip to my belly, fingers spreading out possessively. He dipped his head, brushing his nose against the curve of my neck.

“You okay?” he murmured, voice low and rough from sleep.

I nodded. “Just thinking.”

His lips grazed my neck. “Hopefully good thoughts, sunshine.”

I smiled softly, my chest tightening. “Hard not to when I wake up with you wrapped around me.”

“Good. You’re gonna get used to it.”

I wanted to ask exactly what he meant by that. If the way he’d touched me had the same weight for him as it had me. But I didn’t want to ruin this quiet moment by second-guessing what was happening between us.

Instead, I stayed still in his arms, letting myself be held. And hope.

Eventually, I felt Wesley shift behind me, his lips brushing my temple. “Come on. Let’s get you some food before the old ladies start smuggling pastries into their diaper bags.”

I laughed before I could stop myself. “You make it sound like a war zone.”

Wesley grunted, already sitting up and stretching his massive frame like a lion uncurling from a nap. “When you get that many babies and bikers in one place before breakfast, it kinda is.”

The smell of coffee and something sweet hit me the moment we stepped out of Wesley’s room and into the main common area. Laughter echoed from the kitchen, the kind that came from women who didn’t just tolerate each other—they were genuinely friends.

Wesley’s hand found the small of my back as we rounded the corner, and I stiffened instinctively. Not because I didn’t like his touch—just the opposite. I enjoyed it too much. But walking into a room full of people who already knew each other—who had history—while I looked like I’d just rolled out of bed and was barely holding it together was a whole different kind of nerve-wracking.
